Duties & Responsibilities
- Specialized & Chairside Assistance:
- Assist the Orthodontist with clinical procedures, including removing brackets, changing archwires, and placing ties/ligatures.
- Provide specialized chairside support during Periodontal procedures and surgical treatments.
- Perform general, prosthodontic, endodontic, and pediatric chairside four-handed dentistry using aseptic techniques.
- CAD/CAM & Dental Technology (CEREC):
- Operate CEREC technology to scan, assist in tooth preparation (preps), mill, and polish ceramic restorations.
- Assist in the fitting, adjustment, and placement/cementation of permanent crowns.
- Clinical Operations & Imaging:
- Take high-quality digital dental X-rays and operate 3D intraoral scanners following strict infection control protocols.
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and ensure all materials and equipment are ready prior to patient care.
- Practice Management & Software:
- Manage patient records using Open Dental (EMR/EHR), accurately documenting medical histories, treatment plans, chartings, and progress notes.
- Support administrative front-desk tasks as needed, including scheduling, patient communication, and managing documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Software: Proficiency in Open Dental for patient record management, charting, and appointment scheduling.
- Specialty Experience: Proven experience or strong knowledge in Orthodontics (bracket removal, wire changes) and Periodontics.
- CAD/CAM Knowledge: Hands-on experience or familiarity with CEREC milling/scanning machines and crown preparation/placement protocols.
- Radiology & Clinical: Expertise in operating digital X-ray units and intraoral 3D scanners.
- Compliance & Safety: Thorough understanding of dental terminology, oral anatomy, infection control/sterilization practices, and HIPAA compliance.
- Teamwork: Excellent communication skills with the ability to work seamlessly alongside dentists, hygienists, and front-desk staff.
