At Advanced Vehicles Assemblies, LLC - Milan, our Assembly Operators manufacture stampings and welding's to customer specifications in accordance with safety, quality, and productivity standards.
SUMMARY:
The Production Supervisor directs the activities of the hourly work force in stamping (pressroom) and in our welding/assembly areas. Under the direction of the Plant/Operations Manager, the Supervisor works closely with the production employees to meet customer demand while adhering to AVA’s Health & Safety Policy and the quality standards demanded by our customers. The Supervisor ensures that machines, materials and other resources are utilized to full capacity. The Supervisor is a catalyst for positive employee relations and represents the company in all interactions with employees.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: This position prefers an associate’s degree or equivalent classroom experience in the areas of business, mathematics, management and technical training.
Experience:
- Required experience is 2 years of supervision/management in a manufacturing environment.
- Preferred experience is 5 years of supervision/management in a stamping facility.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong leadership ability, thorough knowledge of manufacturing systems and processes such as metalforming, welding, and assembly. Temperament and attitude that facilitate teamwork among all levels of employees are especially helpful.
Physical: Must be mobile, able to move about all areas of the facilities and have the capacity to sit or stand for hours at a time.
Mental: Analytical aptitude is essential to conduct problem solving. Patience and flexibility are definitely needed to deal with unpredictability inherent in the daily routine of a manufacturing facility.
Working Conditions: This position often requires a 8-10 hour workday in a manufacturing environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Supervisor directs the work schedules and work assignments of all hourly employees assigned to their area. The Supervisor may authorize the hiring of staff with approval from Plant/Operations and the Human Resources Manager and may recommend terminating an employee after consultation with the Plant/Operations and the Human Resources Manager.
The Supervisor is responsible for the adherence to safe work practices, quality standards, efficiency levels, proper machine utilization, housekeeping, attendance and accurate production data entry among the employees in his/her area.
While directing the efforts of machine operators, welders, and material handlers, the Supervisor works towards achieving production schedules and delivery dates as committed to our customers. To this end the Supervisor makes the daily job assignments scheduling work hours and creating machine schedules.
The Supervisor partners with the Plant/Operations Manager and Human Resources Manager in administration of employee relations programs such as communications, and job training, safety programs, and other work-related activities for the ongoing selection and development of employees that maintain harmonious relations between the employee and management.
The Supervisor executes appropriate disciplinary action in instances when an employee violates a company policy or procedure. Disciplinary action resulting in Final Written Warnings, Suspensions and Terminations shall be issued after consultation and approval of Plant/Operations and the Human Resources Manager.
The Supervisor assumes responsibility for accurate diagnosis of machine and tooling problems, machine malfunctions, etc. to expedite and coordinate corrective action.
Makes recommendations to hire employees to maintain an adequate work force.
Plans and implements action plans for continuous improvement in accordance with the direction given by the Plant/Operations Manager.
Treats all employees with dignity and respect.
Practices safe driving skills with regard to the handling of a powered industrial truck and maintains a current powered industrial truck license.
Other duties as needed at the discretion of the Plant/Operations Manager.
OTHER:
This position requires great independence and initiative. The Production Supervisor must be proactive in leadership and a self-starter.
A high degree of personal presence to the employees is necessary. Also, the Supervisor must be able to gain the respect of all employees and demonstrate positive and professional relationships with all levels of the organization. When dealing with employee problems the Supervisor must exercise tact and confidentiality.
The Supervisor is expected to be at work on a daily basis and work overtime as needed.
Note: This position is eligible for overtime at straight time over 45 hours.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in a background check a post offer employment drug test.
