About the Role
WorkForce Unlimited, onsite with our client, is seeking a strong, hands‑on Second Shift Production Supervisor to lead evening operations in a fast‑paced, high‑volume manufacturing environment. This role requires a highly visible leader who can make real‑time decisions, enforce safety standards, drive productivity, and maintain clear communication across shifts.
This is a working leadership role, not a desk position. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing frontline teams, overseeing multiple departments, and remaining fully engaged on the production floor throughout the shift.
Work Schedule & Availability Requirements
This evening leadership role requires reliability, flexibility, and full ownership of the shift. Candidates must be willing and able to:
- Arrive early and stay late as operational needs require
- Work mandatory weekends, including cleaning weekends and periods of increased demand
- Work overtime as needed (paid at time and a half)
- Maintain dependable attendance on a 3 pm - 12 am schedule
- Comply with a maximum shift length of 12 hours
Consistent presence, responsiveness, and engagement on the production floor are essential.
Key Responsibilities – Operational Leadership
- Supervise evening operations across multiple production departments
- Lead several associates across shifts
- Coordinate workflows involving forklift activity, material movement, dumping cans/tobacco powder, and related tasks
- Ensure proper task sequencing, staffing coverage, and efficient resource utilization
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all safety policies and address unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately
- Conduct routine floor inspections and ensure proper PPE usage at all times
Shift Communication & Coordination
- Provide clear and consistent communication between shifts
- Ensure accurate and thorough shift handoff documentation
- Respond quickly to production changes, staffing needs, and operational challenges
Team Coaching & Performance Management
- Address performance issues promptly with clear expectations
- Provide real‑time coaching, reinforcement, and hands‑on support
- Maintain accountability, engagement, and morale across the team
Floor Presence & Physical Requirements
- This is an active role requiring continuous movement and extended time on the production floor
- Must be comfortable working in environments with dust, menthol, and strong nicotine odors
Candidate Profile
- Supervisory experience in manufacturing, distribution, or similar high‑volume environments
- Experience managing multiple departments or workflows simultaneously
- Forklift knowledge required (operation, safety, or coordination); certification preferred
- Strong decision‑making skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- Highly dependable, proactive, and comfortable leading through high‑pressure situations
Must‑Have Requirements
- Ability to work overtime and mandatory weekends
- Comfort working in environments with dust and strong tobacco‑related odors
- Ability to support multiple departments and cover staffing gaps
- Strong communication skills and a safety‑focused mindset
- Forklift exposure (required); certification status preferred
