Job Title: Combo Pipe Welder/Fitter
Location: Brock, TX
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (90-days)
Shift: 6am-5pm
Compensation: Based on Experience and Weld Test Results
Position Summary
We are seeking experienced Combo Pipe Welder/Fitters to join our growing team in the Greater Fort Worth area. This position is ideal for highly skilled craftsmen who can independently fit and weld carbon steel and stainless steel pipe to code-quality standards. Candidates must be capable of reading isometric drawings, fabricating piping systems, and producing high-quality welds in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
Successful candidates must demonstrate exceptional workmanship, strong attention to detail, and the ability to consistently meet production and quality expectations.
Required Qualification Test
All applicants must successfully complete a 6G Pipe Welding Test consisting of:
- GTAW (TIG) Root Pass
- SMAW (Stick) Fill and Cap
- Welds must meet applicable code acceptance criteria
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform pipe fitting and layout using isometric drawings and fabrication prints.
- Measure, cut, bevel, fit, tack, and assemble piping systems.
- Weld carbon steel and stainless steel pipe using GTAW (TIG) and SMAW (Stick) processes.
- Produce code-quality welds that pass visual inspection and nondestructive testing (NDT) as required.
- Verify dimensions, alignment, and fit-up prior to welding.
- Operate grinders, beveling equipment, cutting tools, and other fabrication equipment safely.
- Maintain productivity while ensuring workmanship meets company quality standards.
- Perform repairs or modifications as required.
- Follow all company safety policies and maintain a clean work area.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, inspectors, and fellow craftsmen to meet production schedules.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Combo Pipe Welder/Fitter in an industrial, manufacturing, or fabrication environment.
- Proven experience fitting and welding process piping.
- Ability to pass a 6G GTAW/SMAW code welding test.
- Ability to read and interpret piping isometric drawings and fabrication blueprints.
- Knowledge of welding symbols and fabrication tolerances.
- Experience with carbon steel and stainless steel pipe.
- Ability to accurately use measuring tools and layout equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous ASME Section IX or AWS code welding experience.
- Experience in oil & gas, process piping, skid fabrication, or heavy industrial manufacturing.
- Forklift, overhead crane, or rigging experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various positions throughout the workday.
- Frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work safely in a fabrication shop environment with exposure to heat, sparks, and industrial equipment.
