Green Hedges School seeks substitute teachers for the current school year and future years.
Green Hedges is a leading coeducational, independent school in Vienna, Virginia, about 15 miles
west of Washington, D.C. Green Hedges enrolls about 170 students in Preschool through Grade
8.
Green Hedges School includes three divisions:
- Preschool: Ages 2 to 5, Montessori philosophy
- Lower School: Grades 1 to 5, traditional preparatory
- Middle School: Grades 6 to 8, traditional preparatory
Substitute teachers at Green Hedges may teach alongside another teacher in the homeroom, teach
an independent class, or fill in for a special-subject teacher. They are expected to:
- Provide instruction through the implementation of lesson plans (provided).
- Demonstrate appropriate classroom management.
- Ensure student learning.
Candidates should have teaching experience, excellent oral and written communication
skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to the mission of Green Hedges School. In most
instances, Green Hedges requires at least a bachelor’s degree for substitute teachers, not
including substitute teachers in assistant roles.
