Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Medical Assistant/Work Comp Administrator to join our dynamic healthcare team. We are a small Family Practice office with a large Workers Compensation patient base. Applicant will be a back up Medical Assistant to help with patient flow and will assist with aadministrative tasks for our work comp patients including sending RFA's, patient referrals and assist in billing.
Duties
- Assist patients with intake procedures, including collecting vital signs, medical histories, and updating electronic health records (EHR systems)
- Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, medication administration, and basic life support (BLS) procedures in accordance with safety protocols
- Manage work-related injury documentation, including injury reports, medical records, and ICD coding for accurate billing and insurance processing
- Coordinate appointments, follow-ups, and referrals within the medical office management system to ensure seamless patient care
- Support physicians and healthcare providers by preparing exam rooms, sterilizing equipment, and assisting during procedures in dermatology, urgent care, or hospital medicine settings
- Maintain detailed medical documentation adhering to HIPAA regulations and ensure all records are accurately updated in EMR/EHR systems
- Facilitate communication between patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers regarding treatment plans and authorization requests
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar medical administrative support role within a busy healthcare environment
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and EMR/EHR management tools
- Prior experience in Workers Compensation required
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are a plus
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally and compassionately.
- Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation and patient care activities
- Bilingual English-Spanish preferred.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
