Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Activity Aide to join our team! In this vital role, you will help create a lively, supportive atmosphere by planning and facilitating engaging activities for our residents. Your enthusiasm and dedication will enhance residents’ quality of life through meaningful social interactions, recreational programs, and personalized engagement tailored to their needs. This role is full time from 10:30am-6:30pm and works on a weekend and major holiday rotation.
Duties
- Assist in planning, organizing, and executing resident-centered activities and events that promote socialization, mental stimulation, and physical activity.
- Coordinate resident events such as games, outings, craft sessions, and recreational therapies to foster community involvement.
- Build strong rapport with residents by providing companionship and encouraging participation in activities aligned with their interests and abilities.
- Maintain detailed records of resident participation and activity outcomes to ensure personalized care plans are met.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and team members to develop engaging programs that address individual needs, including memory care and dementia support.
- Manage scheduling of activities efficiently to ensure consistent delivery of programs while adapting to residents’ changing needs.
Skills
- Proven experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living or long-term care settings of at least 1 year is strongly preferred.
- Strong background working with seniors, especially those with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.
- Knowledge of geriatrics, memory care techniques, and dementia care best practices.
- Excellent communication skills for building resident rapport and coordinating with team members.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with disabilities or special needs within senior living environments.
