Job Title: Inland Marine Barge Supervisor
Reports To: Superintendent
Summary: Barge Supervisors are responsible for all Inland Marine aspects of operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning work, determining techniques to be used, supervising and training crew personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (Other duties may be assigned).
- Demonstrate & promote safety leadership (i.e. Morning safety meetings & completing JSAs)
- Responsible for organization and housekeeping on barge at all times
- Responsible for planning, prepping, laying out, assembling, and installing of equipment and materials.
- Examine & inspect work progress, equipment, and work sites to verify safety & to ensure that specifications are met.
- Train workers in construction methods, operation of equipment, safety procedures, and company policies.
- Assign work to employees, based on material and worker requirements of specific jobs.
- Conduct meetings with crew to schedule and coordinate the activities to be accomplished during the week. Direct crew throughout the week to assure successful completion
- Assist Superintendent with timely job close-out and punch list completion
- Maintain neat and orderly job-site and personal appearance
- Inspect, operate and maintain tools and equipment needed on the job.
Education/Experience:
- Must have experience in inland marine construction, pipeline fabrication & maintenance, and pile driving.
- Marine construction experience as a Foreman, Supervisor, and/or Superintendent
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate); Over 2 years, up to and including 4 years
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Barge Supervisors may directly supervise 15-20 employees on the Barge and/or other remote locations and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include mentoring employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing.
Physical Demands:
The employee must frequently lift, move and/or carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
Barge Supervisors must be willing to comply with PCM Health, Safety, and Environmental rules and regulations, as well as all local, state and governmental regulations.
