NYC Operations Manager
Island Creek Oysters (ICO) is a mission-based brand engaged in promoting the development of aquaculture’s role in our food systems—locally and globally.
This boots-on-the-ground position is responsible for everything from logistics and making deliveries to Shellfish Inspector communications and Supply Chain Management. This role requires the ability to execute tasks with little oversight, attention to detail, and a good attitude. The NYC Operations Manager’s responsibilities include: hiring, training, managing all NYC Operations staff and liaising with the Massachusetts based operations team. A strong manager will be a self-starter, problem solver, and display strong communication skills.
The NYC Operations Manager reports directly to the Director of Operations and works closely with the Massachusetts based Operations Manager to streamline systems, meet industry requirements, problem solve and continue to grow and develop the Operations team as a whole. This is a full time position with a salary of $65,000 per year with and a benefits package.
The Role
- Management of NYC Operations Team
- Daily Deliveries around NYC and Brooklyn
- Shop Maintenance and Regular Cleaning Management
- Shop Inventory and Packaging Management
- Communication and Coordination with MA based operations team
- Daily Chef Relations
- Morning Order Fulfillment and Product Pick Up (print pick slips, print tags, pull product, assemble orders, create invoices, receive product)
- Afternoon Inventory Balance and old Bag reports
- Maintaining Cold Chain: Gathering info for tracebacks & follow up with local official
- Quality Control- Reporting Issues/Customer Feedback
- Mapping Efficient Delivery Routes
- Maintain Tag Organization, Invoices, Inventory Adjustments and Logs
- Truck Maintenance Management and Upkeep/Cleaning
- Maintain Proper Permits, Records, and Certificates
- Manage All NYC DEC Visits and follow up
- Training of New Hires
- Write down Tracking with Notations
- Providing Feedback and Focus Metrics to Operations Director
- Overtime, PTO and Sick Time Management of NYC Staff
- Quarterly Reviews of NYC Operatives
REQUIREMENTS:
Driver’s license and squeaky clean driving record
Knowledge of how to navigate through Brooklyn and Manhattan
Good interpersonal skills
A willingness to do whatever it takes to complete the job at hand
Upbeat attitude
Food safety fluency
Self-starter; Ability to manage time and many tasks with little oversight
Strong problem solving capability
Strong communication skills and good attention to detail
Ability to adapt to change and think on one’s feet
