Position Available: Data Specialist
Job Summary: This role supports day-to-day data operations across purchasing and EDI workflows, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely reporting. The Data Specialist will work with purchase orders, vendor data, and EDI transactions to identify issues, resolve discrepancies, and maintain clean data across systems. This position is hands-on and execution-focused, with exposure to core supply chain processes and cross-functional teams.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Generate, maintain, and validate daily and weekly reports and dashboards using internal tools (e.g., GenWeb)
- Monitor purchase orders (POs) and assist in resolving data discrepancies or setup issues
- Review and maintain item master data, including pricing accuracy and discontinued product status
- Support vendor setup processes, including commission tracking and basic payment validation
- Monitor EDI transactions and identify, troubleshoot, and escalate errors as needed
- Work with standard EDI documents, including:
- 850 – Purchase Orders
- 855 – Purchase Order Confirmations
- 856 – Advance Ship Notices
- 810 – Invoices
- 875 / 880 – Grocery-specific formats
- Clean, analyze, and validate datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and inconsistencies
- Maintain data integrity and consistency across systems and platforms
- Assist with basic SQL queries and contribute to reporting enhancements
- Document processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Purchasing, Finance, and IT
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Data Analytics, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., sorting, filtering, basic formulas; pivot tables preferred)
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and work with data
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Exposure to SQL or Python
- Familiarity with databases such as Oracle or MySQL
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Basic understanding of supply chain processes, including purchase orders, invoicing, or EDI
Work Environment: Office setting
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
