Position Summary
The Exterior Remodeling Sales Consultant is responsible for generating new business and driving revenue growth by helping homeowners identify and select exterior remodeling solutions that meet their needs, preferences, and budgets.
This consultative sales position focuses on roofing, siding, windows, doors, decks, gutters, insulation, porticos, and other exterior home improvements. The Sales Consultant meets with homeowners, evaluates their properties, explains available products and services, assists with customized proposals, and guides customers from the initial consultation through the completed contract.
In addition to sales responsibilities, this position provides ongoing project support for the work sold. The Sales Consultant remains involved throughout the customer experience by communicating project details, assisting with documentation and product selections, coordinating with production and office personnel, and following up with customers to help ensure successful project fulfillment.
The ideal candidate is professional, self-motivated, organized, customer-focused, and committed to delivering an outstanding customer experience from the first appointment through project completion.
Responsibilities
Sales and Business Development
· Conduct in-home consultations for company-generated leads during regular business hours, generally between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
· Inspect roofing, siding, windows, doors, decks, insulation, gutters, and other exterior components.
· Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate remodeling solutions based on the condition of the home, customer goals, and available budget.
· Educate homeowners about products, materials, installation methods, warranties, maintenance requirements, and financing options when applicable.
· Prepare and present clear, detailed, and accurate project proposals using company estimating software.
· Guide customers through the decision-making and contract process using a professional, consultative sales approach.
· Follow up consistently on company-generated leads, referrals, previous estimates, and outstanding proposals.
· Develop new business through networking, referrals, community involvement, and professional relationship-building.
· Meet or exceed established monthly and annual sales goals.
· Attend sales meetings, product training sessions, manufacturer programs, and company events.
Project and Customer Support
· Maintain accurate customer, sales, and project information in the company CRM and other business systems.
· Confirm that signed contracts, product selections, measurements, photographs, specifications, and supporting documents are complete before projects are transferred to production.
· Communicate project scope, customer expectations, special conditions, and other important details to the production and operations teams.
· Assist customers with product, material, style, and color selections when needed.
· Respond to customer questions and provide timely updates before, during, and after project fulfillment.
· Coordinate with office, production, installation, and management personnel to help resolve questions or concerns related to sold projects.
· Participate in project handoffs, pre-construction reviews, and follow-up activities as required.
· Identify potential changes in project scope and communicate them promptly to the appropriate team members.
· Support the preparation and communication of change orders when additional work or unforeseen conditions are identified.
· Follow up with customers after project completion to confirm satisfaction, address outstanding concerns, and request reviews or referrals when appropriate.
· Represent Bartlett Brainard Products professionally throughout every customer and community interaction.
Qualifications
· Residential remodeling, home-improvement, or construction sales experience is required.
· Knowledge of roofing, siding, windows, doors, decks, gutters, insulation, or general construction is required.
· Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
· Strong consultative selling, closing, and negotiation abilities.
· Customer-first mindset and commitment to providing an exceptional experience.
· Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently.
· Strong organizational, follow-up, and time-management skills.
· Comfortable using CRM systems, estimating software, email, and other digital business tools.
· Ability to understand measurements, project specifications, contracts, and construction-related documentation.
· Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation.

Compensation and Benefits

Physical Requirements
· Frequent driving to customer homes throughout Greater Hartford and surrounding communities.
· Ability to walk residential properties and construction areas.
· Ability to climb ladders when appropriate and safely permitted.
· Regular standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, and stair climbing.
· Frequent computer and keyboard use for proposal preparation, customer communication, and CRM updates.
· Occasional lifting of materials, samples, ladders, or equipment weighing up to approximately 30 pounds.
