Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Activities Department assistant to join our team in enhancing the quality of life for our residents. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and implementing engaging programs that promote socialization, wellness, and recreational activities for seniors, particularly those in long-term care and memory care settings. This role requires a deep understanding of the unique needs of seniors, including those with dementia and disabilities, to create a nurturing environment that fosters independence and joy.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and evaluate life enrichment programs tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Collaborate with caregivers and healthcare staff to ensure the integration of therapeutic activities into residents' daily routines.
- Manage schedules for activities, ensuring optimal participation while accommodating individual needs.
- Facilitate group activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical wellness.
- Organize special events and outings that enhance community involvement and resident engagement.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and feedback to continuously improve program offerings.
- Train and supervise staff or volunteers involved in life enrichment activities.
- Foster relationships with residents and their families to understand their preferences and encourage participation.
Experience
- Previous experience in long-term care, memory care, or senior care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of recreational therapy principles and practices is a plus.
- Strong schedule management skills to coordinate multiple activities effectively.
- Experience in caregiving or working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with dementia care techniques to support residents’ unique needs is essential.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- A passion for enhancing the lives of seniors through meaningful engagement.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
