Job Summary:
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Food Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in preparing nutritious meals, maintaining food safety standards, and creating meaningful food experiences by exploring, tasting, and learning alongside children.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs., stand 90% of the work day, stoop, sit on the floor, and transition between seated and standing positions repeatedly throughout the day.
Full-time Monday-Friday, ideal hours are 7:30 am-4:00 pm
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate menus and oversee the preparation and service of catered lunches, and site prepared breakfast and snacks for 100 children in our early childhood center
- Manage all required CACFP food program documentation and compliance
- Purchase and manage food inventory for breakfasts, snacks and occasional family events
- Support weekly food experiences in the classrooms
- Assist in training staff in portioning, safe food handling and sanitation
- Ensure that all food prepared and served from the kitchen meets state food safety and CACFP standards; lead kitchen safety, sanitation, and environmental practices (including organic recycling and waste reduction)
- Provide day-to-day leadership in the kitchen, including supporting and supervising a team member who thrives with clear guidance, routine, and compassionate oversight. The ideal candidate will bring patience, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful work environment.
- Manage and submit accurate, compliant expense reports with supporting receipts in a timely manner according to company policy.
- Clean and organize kitchen areas, and manage inventory
Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
