POSITION SUMMARY
As a Sanitation/Maintenance Associate at United Against Poverty, you play a critical role in keeping our Distribution Center clean and in top-notch shape. We are looking for individuals who take pride in their work and want to join a team dedicated to helping to end poverty.
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of our facility, working through a regular checklist of sanitation needs as well as responding to spills and/or other sanitation issues as they arise. This role is also responsible for minor repairs and identifying safety concerns that arise throughout each day.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Cleaning and suppling all areas of the Distribution Center This includes sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, garbage removal, restroom cleaning and disinfecting, and more.
- Performing and documenting routine inspections and maintenance activities.
- Carrying out heavy cleaning tasks and special projects.
- Notifying management of occurring deficiencies or items needing repair.
- Stock and maintain supply rooms.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure the facility is properly maintained.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines and regulations.
- Comply with Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services regulations for cleanliness and upkeep.
· Assisting with all other MSGP department projects as needed.
· Pest control to include daily walkthroughs and setting traps as needed.
· Always maintains a professional demeanor with staff, drivers and guests.
· Maintain necessary supplies, tools, and equipment for all repair projects. Daily fueling of refrigerated trailers.
ESSENTIALS THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL
· Previous experience working in a similar Warehouse/Distribution Center sanitation/maintenance and/or janitorial position.
· Positive attitude, even in the face of adversity.
· Ability to work independently and collaborate with others.
· .
· General knowledge of building maintenance, (carpentry, painting, minor plumbing, HVAC is a plus).
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, very strong project management skills.
· Task-oriented with a mindset to complete projects quickly yet accurately.
· The ability to be proactive in locating small problems and solving them before they become large issues for the warehouse.
· Capable of excelling in a fast-paced environment.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
· 2-3 years of janitorial/maintenance experience
· Custodial training or vocational certification preferred
· High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
· Experience with operation of forklift and both manual and electrical pallet jack a plus.
Valid Florida driver’s license and ability to qualify under UP’s commercial insurance while driving a company vehicle.
PHYSICAL WORK REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to stand, walk and move around for long periods of time. Must be able to push, pull, bend and lift up to 25lbs without assistance.
