Dermatology Medical Assistant

Dermatology experience and experience with Modernizing Medicine Inc. is preferred!
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Obtains short history. Obtains or updates patient medication list. Sets up exam room according to scheduled procedure or anticipate provider's needs if non-scheduled procedure is likely.
- Transcribes during visit and assures documentation of patient care to meet criteria dictated by legal practice, state health laws, and Medicare regulations.
- Assists physician with biopsies and surgical procedures.
- Assists physician with treatments and procedures.
- Educates patient as required after physician establishes the treatment plan. Ensures that the patient understands the treatment plan, understands the proper use of their medications, and understands their responsibility for compliance with the treatment plan prior to leaving the office.
- Straightens and cleans exam rooms after patient visits.
- Performs patient care procedures such as assisting with injections, suture removal, dressing changes without direct physician supervision.
- Provides direct patient care, including observation and prescribed treatments.
- Maintains patient records and charts
- Schedules appointments
- Institutes emergency care appropriately, accurately and professionally.
- Accepts responsibility for patient safety and assures safe practice.
SECONDARY DUTIES:
- Stocks all exam rooms.
- Performs all duties related to medical instrument cleaning and sterilization.
- Performs other duties and assumes various responsibilities as determined by team lead/supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Current and valid documentation as a MA
- Medical Assisting: 2 years (Required)
- Dermatology: 1 year (Preferred)
