Position Overview
ZenTech Consulting is seeking an experienced Molding Process Technician / Molding Operator Assistant to support the molding and production of precision carbon and graphite components. This position combines hands-on machine operation and material handling with the technical responsibilities of monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing molding processes.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with industrial molding equipment, presses, production machinery, tooling, and process controls and be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment where quality, safety, and consistency are critical.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically inclined manufacturing professional who wants to utilize both machine operation and process-technical skills.
Key ResponsibilitiesMolding Process & Machine Operation
- Set up, operate, and monitor molding presses and associated production equipment.
- Assist with mold and tooling changes, adjustments, and machine setup.
- Monitor molding cycles, temperatures, pressures, timing, and other process parameters.
- Make appropriate machine or process adjustments to maintain consistent production.
- Identify molding defects, dimensional issues, and other quality concerns.
- Troubleshoot basic equipment and process problems and escalate more complex issues when necessary.
- Follow established process specifications, work instructions, and production standards.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections as required.
- Document production results, process adjustments, downtime, and quality issues.
Operator Assistant Responsibilities
- Load and unload molds, presses, fixtures, and production equipment.
- Prepare and stage raw materials for molding operations.
- Assist with weighing, mixing, measuring, and preparing molding materials according to specifications.
- Remove finished components and perform visual inspections for defects.
- Trim, clean, deburr, and perform basic finishing operations on molded components.
- Package and properly identify completed parts.
- Keep machines, tools, and work areas clean and organized.
- Assist Process Technicians and other production personnel with setups, changeovers, and troubleshooting.
- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Quality & Production
- Maintain high standards for dimensional accuracy, appearance, and overall product quality.
- Read and follow manufacturing drawings, specifications, work instructions, and process documentation.
- Use basic measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and scales.
- Identify non-conforming material and follow established procedures for handling quality issues.
- Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
- Work efficiently while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing, molding, press operation, plastics, rubber, carbon/graphite, ceramics, composites, or a similar production environment.
- Experience operating or assisting with industrial molding presses or automated/semi-automated production equipment strongly preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand how machines, tooling, and processes work together.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic machine and process problems.
- Ability to read and understand work instructions, production documentation, and basic technical drawings.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
- Ability to work independently while also supporting a production team.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with repetitive processes, standing, lifting, and moving materials.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience as a Molding Process Technician, Process Technician, Injection Molding Technician, Compression Molding Technician, Press Operator, Molding Operator, Machine Operator, or Manufacturing Technician are encouraged to apply.
Experience with carbon, graphite, composite, ceramic, powder, thermoset, compression, transfer, or similar molding processes is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to routinely lift, carry, push, and pull materials and components.
- Ability to work around industrial machinery and production equipment.
- Ability to wear required PPE.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Pay is up to $35/hour depending on experience and technical capability. Candidates with strong molding-process experience, troubleshooting ability, and demonstrated knowledge of industrial press operations may qualify toward the top of the range. In addition to competitive hourly compensation, the position offers multiple bonus opportunities and additional paid time off associated with scheduled plant shutdown maintenance periods.
