About Us
We are a busy, well-established rheumatology practice seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Prior Authorization Specialist to join our team. This position is primarily based in our Greenbrier office in Chesapeake, with occasional travel to our Harbour View office in North Suffolk.
Responsibilities
- Process and manage prior authorizations for oral medications, home biologics, and in-office IV biologic therapies
- Complete benefits investigations and insurance verification
- Coordinate Patient Assistance Programs and copay card enrollment
- Utilize ICD-10 codes as needed
- Follow up with insurance companies regarding authorization status and appeals
- Maintain accurate patient and insurance records
- Keep work areas organized and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior authorization experience in a medical office preferred
- Knowledge of insurance verification and specialty medications preferred
- Familiarity with ICD-10 coding preferred
- Strong organizational and time-management skills are essential
- Excellent attention to detail
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between office locations
