Job Overview
Everwell Recovery LLC is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our team. As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing direct care and support to clients receiving detoxification and residential treatment for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. You will help maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment while supporting clients throughout every stage of their recovery journey.

Responsibilities
- Monitor and support clients throughout detoxification and residential treatment.
- Conduct routine client safety rounds and document observations accurately.
- Administer medications in accordance with physician orders and facility policies.
- Obtain and document vital signs as required.
- Facilitate psychoeducational and process groups under clinical supervision.
- Transport clients safely to and from airports, medical appointments, outside meetings, recreational outings, and other approved destinations.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic treatment environment.
- Conduct client belongings searches, room searches, and facility safety checks in accordance with company policies.
- Perform random breathalyzer and urine drug screenings as directed.
- Observe clients for behavioral, emotional, psychiatric, or medical changes and promptly report concerns to the nursing and clinical teams.
- Provide emotional support, encouragement, and supervision while promoting healthy coping skills and recovery-oriented behaviors.
- Assist clients with daily living activities while encouraging independence and accountability.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR/EHR).
- Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with nurses, therapists, case managers, physicians, and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Participate in shift reports, staff meetings, and ongoing training.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility, including common areas, client rooms, and staff areas.
- Assist with light housekeeping, laundry, and other operational duties to ensure the facility remains clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Respond appropriately to medical or behavioral emergencies while following established protocols.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support daily facility operations.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of one (1) year of work experience in the addiction treatment field is required. Experience in detoxification, residential treatment, behavioral health, or substance use disorder treatment is strongly preferred.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Must be insurable under the company's automobile insurance policy.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and all required pre-employment screenings.
- Ability to safely lift, push, pull, and carry at least 25 pounds.
- Comfortable conducting client belongings searches, room searches, breathalyzer testing, urine drug screenings, and other client safety procedures.
- Ability to administer medications in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and make sound decisions in crisis or high-stress situations.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately complete documentation and maintain client records.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, patience, and compassion while working with individuals experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
- Knowledge of addiction, trauma-informed care, and recovery principles.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts as needed.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in detoxification, residential treatment, psychiatric, or behavioral health settings.
- Experience facilitating psychoeducational or recovery-focused groups.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and behavioral health documentation standards.
- Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of withdrawal, relapse risk, overdose, psychiatric decompensation, and medical emergencies.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to establish professional boundaries while building therapeutic rapport with clients.
