JOB TITLE/DESCRIPTION: MEDICAL FRONT OFFICE
Job Summary: Greets all patients and/or visitors presenting to the front desk. Collects co-pays, co-insurances, and any past due balances from patients. Schedules returning appointments upon patients’ check-out. Verifies insurance benefits and eligibility. Obtains insurances authorizations. Performs other duties as necessary.

Medical Front Office Job Responsibilities:
- Serves patients by greeting and assisting them, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records and accounts.
- Assists patients filling-out registration forms, ABN forms and obtaining all required signatures.
- Comforts patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties, answering patients’ questions, and maintaining the reception area.
- Communicates with clinic’s staff regarding patients processing delays.
- Collects co-pays, co-insurances, and any past due balances from patients.
- Assists with insurance verification, pre-certification, and eligibility.
- Maintains patient accounts by recording and updating financial information, recording and collecting patient balances.
- Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Schedule follow-up appointments upon patients’ check-out.
- Prepares necessary paperwork for the next business day.
- Performs other duties as necessary.
Education and Experience
- High school graduate.
- Medical terminology a plus.
- At least one year experience as a medical front desk receptionist in a healthcare environment.
- Bilingual a plus.
- Good knowledge of computers as well as Microsoft Word and Excel.
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of office functions and procedures.
- Ability to deal with patients who may be ill, confused, and/or distraught as well as the general public.
- Good sense of organization and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to maintain composure and emotions in difficult situations.
- Job requires being reliable, responsible, dependable, and fulfilling obligations.
