Position Summary
As a Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for completing technical activities on assigned civil engineering projects for public and private clients. Project types vary from transportation to private land development. The Civil Engineer will design, plan, and supervise the construction of infrastructure projects such as street and public utility design, site layouts, grading and drainage for civil engineering projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· Consults with and provides guidance to project stakeholders and managerial staff regarding engineering requirements for construction of various designs, modifications, and structural repairs.
· Uses design software and drawing tools to accurately render and communicate
· designs; plans and designs other necessary and related systems and structures such as transportation, or hydrology.
· Where applicable, directs and oversees junior or subordinate staff members regarding design, or construction tasks and assignments.
· Plans projects based on the analysis of relevant materials such as drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geologic and topographical data.
· Drafts and presents reports on topics related to projects such as environmental impact statements and right-of-way descriptions.
· Estimates cost of materials, equipment, and labor needed to construct projects
· Collaborates with architects and contractors to ensure projects progress properly.
· Collaborates with surveyors or participates in surveying to establish reference points, grades, elevations, and other factors that will affect construction.
· Monitors project progress and ensures design specifications, safety, and sanitation standards are met.
Supervisory Requirements
· May require some supervisory responsibility.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
· BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
· Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience preferred but not required
· Professional Engineering License is required (with the ability to obtain a NY & VT license within 2 yrs.)
· Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D 2020
· Knowledge of HydroCAD is a plus
· Experience with permit applications to local boards and state agencies is a plus
· Experience with field work and site observation services is a plus
· Assist office team with successful completion of projects within established budgets and deadlines.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
· Must be able to travel to various project sites.
· Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
