At Inner Valor, we provide specialized marine security for yacht cruises, ensuring a safe and secure experience for passengers and crew. We are seeking professional and vigilant Security Officers to oversee access control and onboard security for yacht and river cruise operations in downtown Chicago.
Position Summary
Our marine security team plays a critical role in safeguarding yacht charters and river cruise experiences throughout downtown Chicago—protecting passengers, crew, and operations with professionalism, precision, and discretion.
We are seeking highly professional, detail-oriented Security Officers who can maintain a strong presence while operating seamlessly within a customer-focused environment.
If you bring situational awareness, composure under pressure, and an appreciation for high-end service environments, this role offers a unique operational setting on the water.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct pre-boarding security screening, including credential verification and bag inspections in accordance with established protocols
Maintain visible, professional presence onboard, deterring disruptions while reinforcing a safe and welcoming atmosphere
Monitor passenger behavior and vessel activity to proactively identify and mitigate risks
Perform routine patrols of interior and exterior vessel areas, including decks and access points
Respond decisively to security incidents, safety concerns, or medical situations
Support crew during emergency procedures, including coordinated evacuations when required
Ensure full compliance with maritime safety standards and client-specific security protocols
Minimum Qualifications:
18+ years old with a high school diploma or GED.
Strong situational awareness, observation skills, and sound judgment
Ability to maintain professionalism in dynamic, guest-facing environments
Physically capable of standing and moving for extended periods
Reliable transportation to downtown Chicago marina locations
Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment screening
Preferred Qualifications:
PERC card & 20-hour Basic Security Training certification
Illinois BASSETT certification (preferred for security roles in licensed venues)
Prior experience in marine, hospitality, or event security
Familiarity with maritime safety and emergency procedures
CPR/First Aid certification
Physical & Mental Requirements:
This role requires sustained physical presence and adaptability within a marine environment, including:
Continuous standing, walking, and patrolling on moving vessels
Navigating stairs, narrow walkways, and wet or uneven surfaces
Maintaining balance and stability during vessel movement or adverse water conditions
Extended exposure to outdoor elements (sun, wind, water spray, temperature changes)
Clear vision, hearing, and communication in high-noise, high-activity environments
Ability to respond rapidly to incidents, including movement in confined or crowded spaces
Occasional lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs.
