We are looking for a Sous Chef to assist in leading the back-of-house operation for Rí Rá Irish Pub in Portland, Maine. Our location is situated on the waterfront, is high volume and has a robust party / event business.

Who You Are
- You are a “Culinarian”; you have a high level of passion for, and strong knowledge of food, food trends and culinary techniques
- You have a “Hands On” approach and like to be heavily involved with the BOH Team leading the line during each shift
- You have the ability to manage the BOH business efficiently and effectively on shift
- You have strong planning, organization, time management, communication and delegation skills
- You understand “Genuine” hospitality
- You have a desire to build the hourly BOH Team around you to propel their careers forward alongside your own
- You have Kitchen Management experience in a high-volume, full service, scratch kitchen setting
- You ideally have ServSafe food management certification alongside any State or County required license requirements for the handling and service of food
- You ideally have an educational background with a focus in the culinary field
What You Will be Doing
- Assuming responsibility and accountability for the BOH side of the business as Kitchen Manager-on-Duty (KMOD) on shift or when the Head Chef is unavailable
- Assisting in the culinary advancement of the location’s food menus and programs
- Assisting with the BOH financial (sales building and cost control), operational and personnel components
- Acting as the spokesperson for the BOH in the absence of the Head Chef when representing the brand and business at the local level
- Establishing, nurturing and maintaining trusted relationships with employees, guests, vendors and local authorities
- Ensuring that all local and state laws are followed as related to the service of food and the BOH facility in general
