Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature.
- Support physicians and healthcare providers with clinical tasks like medication administration, wound care, and basic life support during emergencies.
- Prepare examination rooms by sterilizing equipment and ensuring supplies are stocked for efficient patient flow.
- Operate Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems accurately to document patient information, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and treatment details.
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as X-ray assistance or basic anatomy and physiology assessments when needed.
- Manage patient service activities including scheduling appointments, answering questions about treatments, and providing clear instructions for follow-up care.
Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent certification required; prior experience in medicine highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ICD coding practices.
- Proficiency in operating EHR systems and familiarity with medical procedures.
- Ability to perform clinical tasks including vital signs collection, medication administration, X-ray assistance, and basic emergency response skills such as Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Strong patient service skills with a focus on compassionate communication and attention to detail during intake and outpatient visits.
- Flexibility to float across multiple departments while maintaining high standards of care.
