Job Overview
We are seeking a Part-Time RN to work in our Specialty Clinic that is open Monday-Friday. The Specialty Clinic offers appointments for patients in multiple areas including: Dermatology, Diabetes, ENT Clinic, Orthopedics, Podiatry, and Psychiatry.
Duties
- Provides direct patient care under the guidance of a Physician or Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
- Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension.
- Teaches patients and families self-care.
- Administers prescribed medications, IV therapy and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
- Performs Assessments.
- Prepares equipment and aids provider during procedures.
- Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.
- Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor and provider of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
- Identifies patients at risk for pressure injury development, implements preventive care per established protocols and monitors response within scope of licensure/certification. Evaluates protocols /guidelines for prevention and treatment and recommends revisions when warranted.
- Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient.
- Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
- Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients.
- Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or hospital policy including patient and family instruction.
- Maintains current skills in all nursing disciplines.
- High-level performance improvement; provides leadership in designs of quality initiatives.
- Develops and implements evidence based educational programs for patients and healthcare providers.
- Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.
- Maintains a positive attitude toward clients and staff.
- Performs job duties within scope of licenses, certifications, and training.
- All other duties as assigned.
Experience
Candidates should demonstrate substantial experience working in diverse healthcare settings such as hospital medicine and emergency medicine. Prior exposure to specialized areas including cardiology (cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology (botulinum toxin treatments), pediatrics (neonatal resuscitation), geriatrics (memory care), or behavioral health is highly desirable. Additional qualifications include proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks, familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and experience in medical-surgical nursing or post-acute care environments. Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law, hospice & palliative medicine, infectious disease care, trauma medicine, and senior care practices will enhance your ability to deliver exceptional patient-centered services.
