Duties
- Perform a variety of braiding styles including box braids, cornrows, twists, and intricate updos tailored to client preferences
- Apply hair extensions seamlessly to enhance volume and length, ensuring natural appearance and comfort
- Consult with clients to understand their desired look, offering professional advice on styles, maintenance, and hair care products
- Maintain high standards of sanitation and cleanliness in all styling tools and work areas according to salon protocols
- Utilize salon software such as MINDBODY for appointment scheduling, client records management, and retail sales processing
- Assist with front desk duties including greeting clients, managing appointments, and upselling retail products like hair care items and accessories
- Mentor junior stylists or apprentices by sharing techniques related to braiding, color theory, and overall hair styling skills
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of hair braiding techniques and styles including extensions and threading
- Proficiency with salon software systems like MINDBODY for scheduling and retail transactions
- Strong understanding of color theory for hair coloring services and blending extensions effectively
- Skilled in using tools such as straight razors for precision cuts or detailing work when needed
- Experience with store management tasks including inventory control, retail math calculations, and upselling strategies
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and build lasting client relationships
- Knowledge of sanitation standards to ensure a safe environment for clients and staff
- Background in cosmetology or barbering certifications preferred; experience with eyelash extensions, makeup application, nail care is a plus
- Ability to mentor team members while fostering a positive team environment
