Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller to join our private practice team. The Medical Biller will be responsible for handling all aspects of billing and insurance claims processing, ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement for services rendered. This position plays a key role in maintaining the financial health of our practice and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance companies (electronically).
- Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims and resolve billing issues.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for patients.
- Post payments and reconcile explanation of benefits (EOBs).
- Monitor patient accounts and send statements or collections notices as needed.
- Work closely with front desk and clinical staff to resolve coding and documentation discrepancies.
- Stay updated on changes in insurance guidelines and billing regulations.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or certification in medical billing/coding preferred.
- 1–3 years of medical billing experience in a private practice or clinical setting.
- Strong understanding of insurance processes, CPT/ICD-10 codes, and medical terminology.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and billing software (e.g., Kareo, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Therapy Notes etc.).
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Preferred Skills:
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or similar credential.
- Experience with both commercial and government insurance plans.
- Familiarity with patient collections and payment plans.
