Maple Tree Cafe, a friendly neighborhood bar and restaurant, is looking for an experienced, dependable bartender to join our team. We are seeking someone who provides excellent hospitality, works efficiently during busy shifts, and is comfortable handling both bar guests and nearby tables.
This position includes traditional bartending responsibilities as well as serving the tables assigned to the bar area. The right candidate will be attentive, organized, personable, and willing to help with the stocking, cleaning, and physical tasks required to keep the bar operating smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve beer, wine, cocktails, and nonalcoholic beverages
- Provide friendly and attentive service to guests seated at the bar
- Take orders and provide full table service for tables assigned to the bartender
- Accurately enter orders and process cash and credit-card payments
- Monitor guest alcohol consumption and follow responsible-service practices
- Restock beer, liquor, wine, ice, glassware, and other bar supplies
- Receive and organize bar inventory and deliveries
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized bar area
- Complete opening and closing duties
- Wash and polish glassware as needed
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, servers, and management
- Assist other team members during busy periods
- Follow all food-safety, alcohol-service, and company policies
Qualifications
- Previous bartending or restaurant experience preferred
- Strong customer-service and communication skills
- Ability to manage bar guests and assigned tables at the same time
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Dependable, punctual, and professional
- Ability to remain organized in a fast-paced environment
- Basic knowledge of cocktails, beer, wine, and responsible alcohol service
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
- Must meet all legal requirements for serving alcohol in Connecticut
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to regularly bend, reach, carry, and move bar supplies
- Ability to safely traverse stairs and steps throughout the shift
- Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant and bar environment
