Nature of Work
Under general supervision, performs a variety of work in the general maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, and equipment for the purpose of maintaining facilities for students, staff, and the public in a safe operating condition; Resolves immediate operational and/or safety concerns. Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities

Provides maintenance support to the assigned school(s) by work orders from the maintenance department

Builds items for the purpose of modifying and/or adapting facilities to specific needs; Installs bulletin boards, dry erase boards, etc.

Performs basic rough and finished carpentry work in construction and repair of structures such as partitions, walls, doors, fences, window frames, office furniture, roofs, and shelves

Removes broken glass, putty or plastic; replaces windows and door hardware; replaces or arranges for replacement of glass for windows, doors, and light fixtures

Installs, replaces, opens, cleans, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on locks for doors, safes, desks, file cabinets, lockers, and various other items of furniture and equipment

Applies and repairs various surfaces for paint, enamel, lacquer, varnish, or stain; repairs wall coverings

Performs repair tasks on a variety of electrical systems including fuses, breakers, panels, branch circuits, light switches, receptacles, exhaust hood fans, motors, and all other electrical system equipment.

Assists other maintenance employees in various skilled trades for the purpose of ensuring efficient and effective functioning of the department

Completes projects and work orders efficiently
