JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, it is the Preschool Teacher's responsibility to provide a favorable learning atmosphere for preschool aged children. The pre-school teacher must plan, organize, conduct and evaluate the curriculum and teaching methods on a continuous basis. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide outstanding customer service to our internal and external guests by providing friendly, responsive, courteous and helpful service.
- Plan and conduct the preschool curriculum for the year in conjunction with the other Homewood-Flossmoor Park District Preschool Teachers, Preschool Teacher Aides, and the guidelines.
- Perform up to 3 hours of preparation work outside of classroom hours each week.
- Produce specific class newsletters as required by Recreation Supervisor.
- Maintain bulletin boards that are aesthetically pleasing, educationally relevant, and current.
- Plan class parties, social functions, and special events that actively engage both students and parents/families.
- Continue to provide a quality of teaching that is in compliance with the high standards of the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District preschool program.
- Set up and clean equipment each day as required by the facility used.
- Comply with all part-time personnel policies.
- Consistent teacher attendance is required
- Assist in setting the policies of the school.
- Make suggestions for ordering supplies and equipment.
- Attend all open house events outside of classroom hours.
- Attend additional and educational seminars and workshops at recommendation of Recreation Supervisor.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Safety Manual.
- Other related job duties as assigned.

JOB SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- B.S. in Education or Early Childhood Degree and/or current Illinois teaching certificate preferred.
- At least five years of experience working with early childhood population/curriculum preferred.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
