ACQC has been a leading provider of HIV/AIDS services since 1986, serving over 10,000 clients and 30,000 community residents across five locations in Queens. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for individuals living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS and other chronic conditions through comprehensive medical care and supportive services.
ACQC is seeking a Staff Accountant to be responsible for a wide array and varied levels of tasks to support the accounting function of the agency.
Responsibilities for the Staff Accountant
- Maintain bank reconciliations.
- Reconcile accrued expenses and prepaid expenses monthly.
- Monitor fixed assets.
- Prepare vouchers and other reports for various funding agencies.
- Prepare budgets and supporting schedules for various grants including cost based and performance-based grants.
- Produce and submit budget modifications as needed in the scope of the projects.
- Prepare monthly journal entries pertaining to grant related activities, capitalization of fixed assets, interest income and interest expenses.
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Post journal entries.
- Report and communicate to grant managers and service contract managers.
- Assist with preparation financial schedules on a monthly for management.
- Review and post accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Review and enter contracts into the general ledger.
- Participate in ad hoc projects or other duties as assigned.
- Ad hoc projects/duties as assigned by the Director of Finance, or the CFO.
Qualifications for Staff Accountant
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required with 1-2 years’ experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of Fund EZ preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Strong attention to detail and analysis.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks, and flexibility to accommodate new requests.
- Must be able to convey sensitivity and non-judgement in all communications.
The Staff Accountant position is a full-time, non-exempt position, based in Richmond Hill, Queens near the LIRR and E train.
