We're looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented Veterinary Technician who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working as part of a highly skilled surgical team.

What You'll Do
As a Veterinary Technician, you'll play an essential role in CAP's High-Quality, High-Volume Spay/Neuter (HQHVSN) program while also supporting our public Wellness Clinic.
On any given day, you may:
- Assist veterinarians during high-volume surgical procedures
- Prepare patients for surgery and monitor anesthesia
- Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery
- Administer medications, vaccines, anesthesia, and treatments
- Safely restrain and handle dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small animals
- Perform laboratory sample collection and diagnostic procedures
- Assist with radiographs (X-rays)
- Prepare, sterilize, clean, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Educate clients on medications, preventive care, and post-operative instructions
- Dispense medications and explain proper dosing
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe surgical environment
- Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, shelter staff, and volunteers
- Participate in inventory management and equipment maintenance
Our surgical team performs approximately 20–50 surgeries each day, making this an outstanding opportunity for someone looking to build advanced surgical skills in a supportive learning environment.

What We're Looking ForRequired
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 year of veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience in a small animal practice
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Outstanding teamwork and communication skills
- Compassionate approach toward animals and people
- Ability to multitask while maintaining quality and patient safety
Preferred
- Veterinary Technology or Veterinary Assistant education
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)
- Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA)
- Experience in High-Quality High-Volume Spay/Neuter (HQHVSN)
Schedule
Our technicians typically work:
- Four 10-hour shifts each week
- Primarily weekday surgery schedule
- Occasional Saturdays supporting our Wellness Clinic
- Weekend surgery schedules may be added in the future based on operational needs
Physical Requirements
This position is active and hands-on.
You should be comfortable with:
- Standing for extended periods
- Repetitive hand and wrist movements
- Lifting animals up to 30 pounds independently
- Assisting with animals over 100 pounds
- Working in a busy veterinary environment
- Handling animals that may be frightened, injured, or fractious
- Exposure to barking, odors, surgical procedures, and medical conditions
