Duties
- Prepare ingredients and assist in the assembly of menu items according to standardized recipes and presentation standards
- Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, slicers, and mixers safely and efficiently
- Follow food safety protocols and handle food products with care to ensure quality and hygiene standards are met
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
- Support menu planning by preparing ingredients in advance for upcoming service periods
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and ensure timely delivery of orders
- Assist with catering events or special meal requests as needed, ensuring all food is prepared according to specifications
Experience
- Previous experience in a food service environment, including restaurant or catering experience, is highly desirable
- Knowledge of dietary department procedures or dietary aide experience is a plus
- Strong knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques for efficient food preparation
- Familiarity with food handling procedures, safety standards in production, and food safety management systems
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and adhere to portion control guidelines
- Experience operating kitchen equipment safely and effectively in a fast-paced setting
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with kitchen staff and front-of-house teams
