CDL Dump Truck Driver – Gravel & Dirt Hauling
We are seeking a reliable and experienced CDL Dump Truck Driver to join our team. The primary responsibility of this position is to safely transport and dump gravel, dirt, rock, sand, and other aggregate materials between quarries, material yards, construction sites, and designated delivery locations.
The ideal candidate has experience operating dump trucks, understands safe loading and dumping procedures, and is dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work efficiently in an outdoor construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial dump trucks to pick up, transport, and dump gravel, dirt, rock, sand, and other materials.
- Travel to quarries, gravel pits, material yards, construction sites, and other designated pickup and delivery locations.
- Properly position the truck for loading and safely operate the dump body when unloading materials.
- Verify loads and delivery locations before leaving pickup sites.
- Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any mechanical or safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, load tickets, delivery tickets, and other required documentation.
- Follow all DOT and FMCSA regulations and company safety policies.
- Ensure loads are properly secured and transported safely.
- Maintain awareness of overhead hazards, uneven surfaces, traffic, workers, and equipment when raising and lowering the dump bed.
- Communicate professionally with dispatchers, loaders, customers, contractors, and other drivers.
- Keep assigned truck clean and in safe operating condition.
- Report accidents, delays, equipment issues, or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain dependable attendance and arrive ready to work for scheduled shifts.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Clean and acceptable driving record.
- Minimum 3 years of commercial driving experience preferred.
- Previous dump truck, gravel, dirt, rock, or aggregate hauling experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of safe loading, hauling, and dumping procedures.
- Understanding of DOT and FMCSA commercial driving regulations.
- Ability to safely maneuver and back a dump truck in construction sites, quarries, and tight areas.
- Ability to complete pre-trip/post-trip inspections and identify basic mechanical or safety concerns.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to follow dispatch instructions.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and job-site conditions.
- Must meet all company and DOT drug/alcohol testing and driver qualification requirements.
