Biddeford High School is seeking a guaranteed substitute teacher:
Guaranteed Substitute Teachers
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Instructs students and facilitates their learning in the absence of the regular teacher.
Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans.
Creates a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
Maintains a safe and orderly environment.
Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned.
Maintains a professional appearance as an example to students.
Remains at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by building principal.
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Maintains reasonable rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility.
Communicates effectively with parents when needed.
Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
Qualification Requirements:
Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), which includes Fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education
Educational Experience:
High School Diploma- May serve 10 days in any one teaching assignment, up to 60 days per school year.
Two or more years of college- May serve as a substitute for up to 60 days per school year.
Certified teacher- May serve as a substitute with no time limit in certification area/grade level only.
Certified teacher- May serve as a substitute for up to 90 days per school year in certification areas outside of area of specialty.
Compensation
Long-term and per diem (by the day) assignments available
$125 per day non-certified
$140 per day for retired teachers and currently certified teachers subbing for Teachers
$140 Long-term subs for a teacher, in one assignment for days 31- 90 (over 90 days is at the entry-level teacher per diem rate)
Guaranteed 3 days per week at BHS
If no job is available at BHS on days 4-5, we have the right to assign you to another school in the district.
6-7 hours per day
