Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Monitor vital signs, observe patient conditions, and report changes promptly to healthcare professionals to ensure optimal health management.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary, supporting overall health and wellness.
- Administer medications following care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality and privacy.
- Support clients with cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease through specialized memory care techniques and personalized engagement strategies.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces.
- Provide transportation assistance for medical appointments, social outings, or errands to promote community involvement and independence.
- Document care activities accurately in client records, communicate effectively with families and healthcare teams, and adhere to all safety protocols including first aid and CPR procedures.
Experience
- Prior experience working in home health care, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or intellectual disabilities support experience is advantageous.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, hospice care, and memory care best practices is desirable.
- Familiarity with patient monitoring tools such as vital signs measurement devices and medication administration protocols is essential.
- Experience utilizing patient transfer equipment like Hoyer lifts or other manual handling devices is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams are required.
- Certification in CPR, first aid, or other relevant caregiving credentials will enhance your application.
