Position Purpose:
Yorkville District 115 is seeking an EL teacher for the early childhood program (located at the Early Childhood Center and Bristol Grade School). We are seeking to hire a teacher who maintains a positive learning environment centered on high academic expectations, creating student-centered lessons while building rapport with students, parents and staff. We are looking for exceptional candidates who will assist our district in becoming exemplar as it relates to seeking and implementing strategies for improving student achievement and growth for all students. This person will work collaboratively in professional learning communities to achieve goals with a common purpose focused on student learning.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION / POSITION SUMMARY:
Yorkville CUSD has an opening for a full time 1.0 FTE English Language Learners Teacher (ELL). This position will support EL students with English language acquisition in the domains of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The EL teacher will be expected to provide a nurturing, collaborative, supportive and positive learning environment with high expectations. The EL teacher will be expected to push-in and support students in the classroom in the content areas.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:

Develops lesson plans and instructional materials into play-based learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.

Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual students' needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.

Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or by conducting research.

Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.

Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.

Coordinates with other early childhood professional staff members and participates in faculty meetings and committees.

Administers standardized tests in accordance with District testing protocol.
Additional Duties:
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the program administrator and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

Current Professional Educators License with an age-appropriate ESL endorsement.

Prefer Professional Educators License with an Early Childhood endorsement.

Prefer bilingualPossesses strong content knowledge/experience in EL language instruction.

Possesses strong content knowledge/experience in EL language instruction.

Prior experience teaching in an early childhood program is highly desired but not required.
Starting Salary: $51,612 /BS+0, year 1
