ADULT PROGRAMMING COORDINATOR
NATURE OF WORK:
Under the direction of the Director, this employee is primarily responsible for developing, coordinating, conducting, facilitating and marketing programs for adults. The work requires the exercise of professional skill, initiative and independent judgment. 15-20 hours per week, including evenings and Saturdays.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
1. Cooperates as a team member to help fulfill the Library’s Mission Statement: “To enrich the lives of our community members by creating an environment for growth, discovery and connection.”
2. Plans, schedules, and implements activities and programs for adults that respond to customer and community demand.
3. Sets up and cleans up program space, assist presenter(s), and ensure that both the presenter and patrons have a pleasant experience.
4. Prepare displays, marketing materials, or other suitable materials to support program topics, and makes recommendations to the Director about materials to purchase to support programs.
5. Publicizes programs by writing, preparing and submitting flyers, website content, social media updates, promotional pieces and news releases for Library programs.
6. Develops and maintain partnerships/relationships with area organizations and businesses to provide a broader range of programs.
7. Evaluates the success of programs in fulfilling the needs of the target audience as well as promoting West Pittston Library usage, awareness, and image.
8. Assess programs by keeping a record of attendance and providing a monthly statistical report to the Director.
9. Maintains adult programming budget, keeping a record of all expenditures.
10. Responds to requests for information from the public regarding Library programs.
11. Assists at the Library’s Circulation Desk when necessary.
12. Assists with special projects assigned by the Library Director.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The ideal candidate will be able to: demonstrate knowledge of Library operations; independently plan, organize and coordinate innovative adult programs; establish and maintain a positive working relationship with a diverse community of customers and library staff; communicate effectively in both oral and written form with customers and staff and have excellent public speaking abilities; engage community partners, customers and staff in the promotion of library programs; work a flexible schedule that includes night and weekend hours; learn and adapt to new and changing technologies; have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products; employ basic math skills, including statistics and budgeting.
