Performs construction and maintenance operating work related to a pipeline system.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Perform pipeline construction, installation, maintenance and removal work on transmission and distribution pipelines.
Load, unload, and operate tools and equipment including but not limited to:
Pipe and crescent wrenches
Pipe cutters and threaders
Hammers and screwdrivers
Picks, shovels, and rakes
Air compressors and generators
Plastic fusion irons
Jackhammers and concrete saws
Booms and chains
Air compressors and generators
Mini and large backhoe
Combustible Gas Indicators
Tapping equipment
No blow equipment
Forklift
Respirators
Oxygen analyzer
Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment including but not limited to:
Fueling truck and checking fluid levels
Applying lubricants
Changing oil and filters
Cleaning/adjusting tools
Investigate customer related orders and/or emergency situations including but not limited to:
Low Pressure calls
Class 1 Leaks
Blowing lines
Fires/explosions
Undetectable lines
Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.
Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
*The shift for this role will be a night shift. Tuesday - Friday, 1:30pm to 12:00am.

Experience
- Knowledge of use, function and maintenance of manual tools and equipment applicable to the position.
- Knowledge of application of basic arithmetic:
- addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (tested).
- Knowledge of construction and maintenance of transmission and/or distribution pipeline systems.
- Working knowledge and training relative to:
- Working in excavations and/or confined spaces
- Basic customer service activities
- Company and governmental operating/safety procedures
- Fusing plastic pipe
- Characteristics of natural gas
- Knowledge in basic computer functions and relevant software.
- Knowledge of plastic fusion.
- Understanding of how to read and interpret maps, atlas pages, blueprints, and job orders.
Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

Licenses and Certifications
Required applicable driver's license.
Required applicable Operator Qualifications.
Required CDL eligible.
Additional Requirements
- Lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds 10-15 times a day; up to 40 pounds 7-10 times a day; over 50 pounds 5-6 times a day.
- Climb into and out of excavations.
- Travel over uneven terrain including but not limited to:
- Mud
- Gravel
- Sand
- Rocks
- Ice
- Snow
- React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.
- Smell odorant in natural gas.
- Detect and react to warning signals at work sites.
- Able to operate tools and equipment required.
- Communicate and/or exchange information and instructions including use of company two-way radio and/or company cell phones.
- Peripheral vision and accurate depth perception.
Visual abilities sufficient to perform job duties.
