Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our paving team. This position is ideal for someone with 3–4 years of experience operating and maintaining asphalt paving equipment who takes pride in keeping equipment running efficiently. The ideal candidate will have experience operating asphalt pavers, rollers, skid steers (Bobcats), dump trucks, and other heavy equipment, while also possessing strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
This is a hands-on position. When equipment maintenance is complete or there is downtime, team members are expected to assist with field work as needed. We are looking for someone who is dependable, self-motivated, and willing to do what it takes to keep our crew productive.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair asphalt paving equipment, heavy machinery, trailers, and company trucks, including diesel-powered vehicles.
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and routine servicing on equipment and fleet vehicles.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical/wiring issues.
- Complete repairs efficiently to minimize equipment and vehicle downtime and project delays.
- Maintain maintenance records and communicate repair needs with management.
- Assist paving crews with general field work when maintenance work is complete or additional manpower is needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized shop and work area.
Qualifications
- 3–4 years experience
- Experience troubleshooting heavy equipment mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical/wiring systems.
- Experience with diesel trucks.
- Experience with trailers and air brakes.
- CDL preferred, but not required.
- Ability to work overtime
Pay: $24.00 - $35.00 per hour
