Job Posting: Food Service Cook – Substitute
Supervisor: Food Service Director & Head Cook
Pay Rate: $15.90 per hour
Schedule: Hours vary based on district needs
Location: Florence Elementary or Middle/High School Kitchen
Position Summary
The School District of Florence County is seeking dependable and flexible individuals to join our Food
Service Department as Substitute Cooks. This position supports daily food preparation and service in
accordance with USDA guidelines, the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs, Wisconsin
state regulations, and district policies. Work assignments will vary based on the needs of the district.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred: Experience or training in sanitation, food handling, quantity cooking, or customer
service
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
Effective communication skills with supervisors, co-workers, students, and staff
ServSafe Certification or willingness to obtain
Maintains good personal hygiene
Essential Responsibilities
Prepare and serve meals (breakfast and lunch) safely and efficiently
Follow food safety and sanitation procedures to prevent contamination and foodborne illnesses
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment in a safe and sanitary manner
Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment after meal service
Assist with food prep for the following day as needed
Support a safe and orderly kitchen and serving environment
