About the Opportunity
A well established general contractor operating throughout Southern California is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations on K-12 construction projects within the Los Angeles Unified School District. This is a direct hire opportunity with a stable, growing firm that has a strong pipeline of DSA work across the greater Los Angeles area. The ideal candidate is a seasoned field leader who understands the unique demands of school construction, DSA compliance, and occupied campus protocols.
What You Will Be Doing
- Manage all day to day field operations on LAUSD school construction projects from groundbreaking through closeout
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and self perform crews to maintain schedule and quality standards
- Enforce DSA inspection protocols, documentation requirements, and compliance procedures throughout the project lifecycle
- Lead daily site meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, and owner progress meetings
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and DSA approved plans to ensure accurate field execution
- Maintain detailed daily logs, RFI tracking, submittal coordination, and schedule updates in collaboration with the project manager
- Monitor site safety, enforce company safety standards, and ensure full OSHA compliance at all times
- Manage project schedule using three week look ahead planning and communicate proactively with the PM on any impacts
- Coordinate utility shutdowns, phasing plans, and campus access restrictions to minimize disruption to occupied school facilities
- Conduct quality control walks and punch list management through final DSA closeout and certification
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum 7 to 10 years of superintendent experience with a licensed general contractor
- Demonstrated experience on LAUSD, DSA, or K-12 school construction projects required
- Strong working knowledge of DSA inspection procedures, documentation, and closeout requirements
- Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors and self perform scopes simultaneously on active school sites
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite
- OSHA 30 certification required
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred
- Ability to read and interpret full construction document sets including architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil
- Strong communication and leadership skills with a reputation for running clean, organized job sites
- Valid California driver's license required
Preferred Background
- Experience with new construction, modernization, and portable relocation scopes within LAUSD
- Familiarity with Division of State Architect inspection card procedures and DSA closeout documentation
- Background working for a general contractor in the $50M to $500M annual revenue range
- Experience managing projects ranging from $5M to $50M in value
