Contract position. Must be able to commit to 2026-2027 school year beginning 8/24/26 through 6/11/27, with the addition of a mandatory Staff Meeting 8/20/26. Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 5 days a week from 2:30-6:30PM.
Join our warm and engaging, fun, play-based, nature-inspired after school program as an Assistant Teacher! In this supportive environment, you will help create a safe space where children in PreK to 5th grade can explore, learn, and develop social skills. Your enthusiasm will support lead teachers in facilitating fun activities, managing behavior, and fostering positive interactions. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to impact children's growth while gaining experience in education and childcare.
Responsibilities: Assist lead teachers in planning and implementing indoor and outdoor activities that promote creativity, community, and social-emotional development. Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and applying effective strategies. Supervise children during activities, ensuring their safety at all times. Help with routines such as snack time, restroom breaks, and transitions to ensure smooth operations. Provide support to children with special needs or requiring extra assistance using early childhood education principles. Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment that fosters learning and safety. Communicate effectively with staff, children, and parents to promote a welcoming atmosphere.
Qualifications: Strong classroom management skills to maintain an organized and positive environment. Experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp, tutoring, or babysitting. Knowledge of childhood development stages and early childhood education practices. Ability to respond calmly to emergencies or minor injuries with basic first aid skills. Familiarity with behavior management techniques supporting social-emotional growth. Excellent communication skills for working collaboratively with children, parents, and team members. Passionate about supporting children's physical, emotional, and educational needs through engaging activities like arts, stories, sports, and creative projects. This position is ideal for energetic individuals eager to contribute positively while developing their skills in education or youth development fields.
