As a member of the Dean of Students community of practice, the Assistant Director for Student Engagement & Leadership provides student organization support, advises prominent student organizations, and plans and implements signature events. The Assistant Director for Student Engagement & Leadership provides training and leadership development for student organization leaders and advisors. The Assistant Director for Student Engagement & Leadership serves as the primary advisor to the Student Activities Board (SAB) and National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC). Additionally, the Coordinator provides advising and event planning consultation to student organizations and exercises strong judgment to facilitate and execute well-organized and safe programming opportunities.

Advises the Student Activities Board (SAB) and the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)

Oversees budget for Student Activities Board (SAB) and other programmatic aspects of the Dean of Students portfolio

Supervises all student activities and events

Revises the Student Organization Handbook and Organization Advisor Handbook

Oversees management of PantherX, Claflin's student experience mobile app

Works with Dean of Students, SAB officers and SAB members to develop annual calendar of events

Oversees membership intake process for all NPHC organizations

Collaborates with campus partners including but not limited to Facilities, Public Safety and organization advisors to ensure SAB and student organization events are in compliance with University expectations

Develops ongoing training for student organization leaders and advisors

Participates in the development of marketing strategies to promote campus activities and services to maximize student involvement and engagement

Assists with marketing, graphic design, and website/social media enhancement for the Office of the Dean of Students

Serves on various University committees

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required
-
Master's degree in student affairs administration, college student personnel or other related discipline preferred
-
1-3 years of student organizational support, student activities advising and program planning
-
Ability to operate within a cross-functional, highly collaborative team environment
