Night Shift Tow Truck Operator – Impound & Parking Enforcement
Overview
L&I Towing is seeking a dependable and motivated Night Shift Tow Truck Operator to join our established night shift team. This is a full-time position primarily focused on private-property parking enforcement, impound towing, and patrolling contracted properties throughout the Omaha metro area.
Our night shift operators work both independently and as a team. This is an active position that requires good judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to remain productive without constant supervision. Drivers are responsible for identifying parking violations, safely completing impound tows, accurately documenting each tow, responding to calls as needed, and assisting other members of the night shift team.
Because our operators regularly interact with vehicle owners, property representatives, law enforcement, and the public, honesty, professionalism, accountability, and the ability to remain calm in difficult situations are essential to this position.
Schedule: Ranging from 5:00 PM–5:00 AM, five nights per week (typically 9 hr shift)
Pay: $15–$20 per hour + overtime pay over 40 hrs, weekly pay
Duties
- Patrol contracted private properties throughout the Omaha metro area for unauthorized or improperly parked vehicles.
- Safely perform private-property impound towing and other assigned towing operations.
- Work alongside and communicate with other members of the night shift team.
- Properly photograph vehicles and document parking violations before and throughout the towing process.
- Maintain accurate records of towing activity, including vehicle information, locations, photographs, and reasons for impoundment.
- Respond to dispatched towing calls and assist other operators when needed.
- Safely operate company tow trucks and equipment while following traffic laws, safety procedures, and company policies.
- Conduct pre-shift inspections and report equipment or maintenance concerns.
- Communicate professionally with dispatch, management, property representatives, law enforcement, vehicle owners, and members of the public.
- Follow established company procedures and property-specific parking enforcement requirements.
- Remain productive, dependable, and accountable while working independently during overnight hours.
Experience & Qualifications
- Previous tow truck, roadside assistance, vehicle recovery, parking enforcement, or similar experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
- Must meet company commercial auto insurance eligibility requirements.
- Comfortable operating vehicles and equipment and able to learn proper towing procedures.
- Must be comfortable working overnight hours and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately complete photographs, paperwork, and electronic documentation.
- Ability to remain professional and calm when dealing with upset or confrontational individuals.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential.
- Honesty, integrity, accountability, and good judgment are required for this position.
What We're Looking For
The right candidate doesn't necessarily need years of towing experience. We're looking for someone who is reliable, trustworthy, self-motivated, safety-conscious, and willing to learn. This position is a good fit for someone who enjoys working independently, staying busy, being out on the road, and being part of a team without having someone constantly looking over their shoulder.
Our night operators are trusted to represent L&I Towing professionally and make good decisions while working in the field. Reliability and integrity are just as important to us as previous towing experience.
