Manhattan Youth is seeking After-School Pool Counselor/Swim Lesson Assistants to join our Aquatics team for the 2026-2027 school year. We are seeking dynamic and energetic individuals who enjoy working with children and are eager to acquire new skills.
No experience in Aquatics is necessary, though those with an Aquatics background are encouraged to apply. This role is an essential part of our Aquatics team, providing support and supervision to the children in our swim programs before, during, and after their swim class.
Qualified candidates will be punctual, reliable, personable, organized and fun. The right candidate will love, understand, nurture, support, accept all children, and be open to personal growth and accepting and applying daily feedback.

Greet students, take attendance, and supervise transition periods between swim lessons
- Engage and form positive, supportive relationships with the children in our after-school programs
- Maintain open communication with Aquatics Supervisors and Program Managers
- Assist in-water with swim lessons on some days, as needed
- Ensure safety of students during all activities
- Maintain cleanliness of the facility, including the pool area, locker rooms, and restrooms
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Ability to work on a team, take initiative, proactively address challenges, and maintain a positive attitude
- Previous experience working with children in a classroom, camp, or childcare program preferred
- Candidates currently pursuing a degree in education or a related field are encouraged to apply
- Lifeguard Certification or experience teaching swim lessons is not required but is a plus
- Candidates will be required to obtain CPR Certification (we can provide training)
Pay: $18-20 per hour, depending upon experience and qualifications. Candidates with prior experience as a Lifeguard or Swim Instructor may be eligible for $20-22 per hour.
