At Roots Logistics, the Operations Lead is the operational backbone behind every successful load — the person who makes sure nothing slips, no carrier goes dark, and no truck rolls without the right information in place.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- Manage daily carrier ops — trailer info sheets, driver data, OK sheets, and factoring proof — with precision and zero dropped balls.
- Own real-time visibility: monitor live communication channels, track driver assignments, collect carrier tracking links, and ensure every change is logged immediately.
- Run 7 AM morning status checks — early departure confirmations, ETA updates, on-site trailer verification, compliance coordination — before most people pour their coffee.
- Triage and route incoming requests to the right internal teams — CSR, Trailer, Track & Trace — so nothing falls through the cracks and the Carrier Sales team stays focused on relationships.
- Send nightly departure reports by 10 PM, support carrier onboarding and compliance, and maintain clean, accurate data in TMS — every time, no exceptions.
- Interface with high-stakes external partners — including USPS government contracts — where accuracy and professionalism at every handoff aren't optional.
YOU'RE BUILT FOR THIS IF YOU
- Have 2–3 years in freight ops, logistics coordination, or freight brokerage support — and you actually liked it.
- Know the difference between escalating the right things and drowning the team in routine questions. You make smart calls independently.
- Communicate clearly under pressure — precise, professional, thick-skinned — and never let urgency become an excuse for sloppy information.
- Are fluent in TMS platforms and Microsoft Excel, and can keep up across multiple communication channels without losing track.
- Have a degree in business, supply chain, or logistics, or the work history that makes the degree irrelevant.
