Under general supervision of the Foreman the Lineman performs skilled line work in the operation, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems for College Station Utilities in accordance with departmental procedures, processes, and established safety protocols.
Duties require sufficient vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to perform assigned installation and maintenance duties as well as sufficient strength and stamina to climb, work at heights up to 90’, and lift and use equipment within utility safety standards.
This class level for the skilled electrical trade have completed the apprentice level of training and experience and incumbents are fully qualified to work on energized primary and secondary electrical transmission and distribution lines, related facilities, and equipment; incumbents work under general supervision performing highly skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of the municipal electrical utility overhead and underground distribution and transmission system.
The Journeyman Lineman performs all duties of the Apprentice Lineman, in addition to completing the following more complex journeyman level duties:

Perform construction, maintenance, and repairs on the electrical overhead and underground distribution and transmission systems.

Complete reports, documentation, and mapping information.

Assist Foreman in training of Apprentice Lineman.

Perform other related duties as assigned, including but not limited to, act as Foreman in his/her absence as designated.
