JR Paralegal (JRP) is a boutique, virtual paralegal and legal operations support agency providing experienced, reliable legal support to attorneys and law firms across multiple practice areas and jurisdictions. About the Role
This is a 1099 independent contractor position. New contractors begin with a mandatory onboarding period focused on administrative and paralegal support duties at approximately 5 hours per week. This applies whether you are joining for hourly work or flat fee project work. The onboarding period can be scheduled around evenings and weekends to accommodate your current commitments.
This role supports attorneys across a wide range of practice areas.

This role is fully flexible. You set your availability, and we match you with a client or assignment that fits. There is no one-size-fits-all schedule here. Whether you prefer ongoing assignments, limited hourly availability, or project-based drafting with a defined turnaround window, we want to understand what type of work arrangement fits you best.
What You Will Do
Responsibilities may include:
- Drafting, preparing, and formatting pleadings, motions, notices, subpoenas, discovery requests, discovery responses, correspondence, and other litigation documents
- Assisting with civil litigation matters from intake through discovery, motion practice, settlement, trial preparation, or case resolution
- Managing deadlines, calendars, court dates, document requests, and client follow-ups
- Organizing discovery, exhibits, evidence, records, deposition materials, pleadings, and case files
- Assisting with e-filing, service coordination, court submissions, and document preparation
- Supporting attorneys with deposition preparation, hearing preparation, mediation preparation, and trial preparation
- Preparing exhibit lists, witness lists, trial binders, document indexes, and case chronologies as needed
- Communicating professionally with attorneys, clients, courts, opposing counsel, vendors, and third parties as needed
- Maintaining organized electronic case files, case notes, and matter checklists
- Working within client systems such as Clio, MyCase, PracticePanther, Filevine, Litify, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Adobe Acrobat, court portals, or similar platforms
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on litigation paralegal experience required
- Civil litigation experience preferred
- Strong drafting, proofreading, document preparation, and organizational skills
- Familiarity with pleadings, discovery, e-filing, court rules, litigation deadlines, and trial preparation workflows
- Ability to manage sensitive client information, deadlines, and confidential materials with professionalism
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Experience using legal practice management platforms, document management systems, and e-filing systems preferred
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Must be comfortable working as an independent contractor
