Telephone Survey Representative – Public Opinion Research

We are currently seeking Telephone Survey Representatives in Lansing, MI specializing in public opinion research.
Position Summary
As a Telephone Survey Representative, you will conduct structured phone interviews to collect accurate and unbiased data. You will follow a prepared script, maintain a neutral and professional tone, and ensure every interaction is respectful and confidential.
This is not a sales position. Your role is to listen, engage, and accurately document responses for research purposes.
Key Responsibilities
- Place outbound calls to respondents and, when necessary, receive inbound calls to complete survey interviews.
- Read from pre-approved questionnaires verbatim, ensuring neutrality and adherence to research methodology.
- Record responses directly into the digital survey platform with precision, ensuring data integrity for research analysis.
- Engage respondents courteously, handle questions appropriately, and remain impartial regardless of topic or respondent opinion.
- Achieve daily and weekly call volume and completed interview targets as set by project requirements.
- Follow all internal quality assurance guidelines, including pacing, question delivery, and response recording standards.
- Conduct surveys on a wide range of subjects — including community issues, political polling, consumer products, and public policy — while maintaining neutrality.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when addressing potentially personal or politically sensitive topics.
- Attend project briefings and skill-refresh sessions to stay aligned with evolving survey procedures.
- Report any script issues, unusual respondent feedback, or technical difficulties in a timely manner.
- Balance speed and accuracy to complete calls effectively without sacrificing quality or respondent comfort.
Work Schedule
Shifts vary by project needs. You choose your shifts weekly from available options:
- Weekdays: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM and/or 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
- Saturdays: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM and/or 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- Sundays: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM and/or 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Some projects may require earlier weekday shifts.
Schedules are posted when shifts are confirmed, though changes or cancellations may occur based on client requirements.
Compensation
- $15.00/hour
- Weekly pay every Friday
Qualifications
- Exceptional verbal communication skills with a clear, professional speaking voice.
- Active listening ability and commitment to reading scripts verbatim.
- Basic computer literacy for accurate and efficient data entry.
- Reliability and punctuality in meeting scheduled shifts.
- Ability to remain neutral and professional on sensitive or controversial topics.
- Previous experience in market research, political polling, or call center environments preferred, but not required.
