General Description: This position oversees the King George County Schools preschool program and government mandated programs to ensure compliance and quality of services.
Essential Responsibilities:

Oversees the implementation of Early Childhood Special Education, Virginia Preschool Initiative and Peer model programs

Provide leadership, supervision, and evaluation of the instructional program

Conducts fall and spring Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) observations to include reports and feedback meetings with preschool teachers.

Develops and implements professional development programs to provide training for staff related to Early Childhood Special Education and 504

Analyzes and interprets school-level data to facilitate continuous improvement

Works with staff to develop plans that contain strategies and goals to improve student learning

Ensures instructional alignment to Virginia’s early learning and development standards

Ensures compliance with all special education related programs and activities

Plan and oversee developmental evaluations for young children (ages 0-5) to identify delays in communication, motor skills, vision, hearing, and social-emotional growth.

Conduct public awareness activities and build relationships with local daycares, pediatricians, and community health agencies to ensure early identification and referral.

Serve as a bridge between parents, school psychologists, early intervention programs (such as Part C to Part B transitions), and special education staff.

Coordinate Child Study meetings, chair eligibility determination committees, and help multidisciplinary teams develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Works with the director of special services to submit information and data to VDOE for reporting, monitoring and compliance purposes

Coordinates division-wide implementation of policies and procedures in compliance with federal and state regulations as they relate to special education and Section 504

Gathers, maintains and inputs data for state collections of Special Education Indicators related to Early Childhood Special Education

Performs related duties as required or assigned
Required Qualifications:

Active license or ability to obtain certification through the Virginia Department of Education with endorsements in Special Education and Administration and Supervision/School Leadership

Five years of teaching experience in Special Education
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience working as an Early Childhood Special Education teacher
